Why let go of your mistakes quickly?

You can only be in the zone if you are in the present. Thinking about the last shot is not being present. Once you start dwelling on an error, it is very hard to stop the cycle of negativity. This is because you’ll try to avoid making errors again – not a great mindset for being relaxed and focusing on the next shot. Your focus will be on the error and your mind will go there and your performance will follow.

In some instances, you may display your anger or disappointment to others who are watching because you want to show them you are better than that shot and you are disappointed in your performance. Making mistakes does not match what you expected of yourself.

The best athletes use mistakes to help them get better. They become more focused, more determined, and are able to let go of mistakes quickly so it does not affect them for several shots or holes to come.

More to come on how to forget quickly and easily using focus, breathing and your reset button.
