Reset your head

Resetting after a disappointing outcome

Your reset ritual should help you do three things:

1- switch your focus of concentration away from the mistake

2- physically and mentally calm you down

3- neutralize any negative self-talk

After hitting a bad shot, pick up some grass and begin to walk to your next shot. Focus your concentration on the grass in your hand. I like to look at it and think of all the great things about being out on the course. While you do this, focus on your measured rhythmic breathing (inhale 123pause,1234.) When you begin to feel calmer and back in control, casually toss the grass away and say ‘reset’. Toss away that last shot as you toss away the grass. Then say your positive cue or affirmation that gets your focus on the next shot.
